Scanned PDFs and OCR

Paper scans work too. When a document has no text layer, it goes through OCR automatically.

How scanned documents are handled

• Upload the scan like any PDF; no separate setting is needed.
• A notice tells you the document was recognized as a scan and OCR ran. This is informational, not an error.
• Detection then runs on the recognized text, so pattern and AI findings work the same as on digital documents.

What to expect

• OCR quality follows scan quality. Clean, straight, high-resolution scans give the best results.
• Faint stamps, handwriting, and skewed pages may not be recognized; cover those with manual boxes.
• Review is extra important on scans: spot-check each page rather than trusting the finding list alone.
